Our story · since 2019
Island Heart.
Japanese Craft.
Sushime began with a simple idea: that good food and good people belong together.
See Our Menu
I'm Salome, a chef with over fourteen years in the kitchen, and after years of pop-ups and home deliveries across Barbados, I opened Sushime as a place where Japanese cuisine and culture could feel at home on our island.
Every dish we serve carries a story, and we love sharing it, from where sushi came from to why the ingredients we use are so good for you. That same spirit fills our sushi classes, where you'll learn a new skill, share a few laughs with your group, and sit down to enjoy sushi you rolled with your own hands.
Behind the counter, I've built Sushime on respect: a team that feels comfortable, happy and valued makes food that people can taste the difference in.
As we grow, my hope is to use this business to open doors for young people in Barbados who need them most, through mentorship and a safe space to belong.
